This fall witnessed release of two major mobile operating systems namely Android 5.0 Lollipop and iOS 8. Apple’s iOS 8 released with the launch of Apple iPhone 6 and Android 5.0 Lollipop came noticeable in June month. Both these operating systems are fully featured mobile OS competitors than their previous versions. It should be hard pressed to know the difference between both Android and iOS. Though most of the features does exist in common if we get deeper we can find out the key differences between both OS platforms. Here is the best comparison ever between Android 5.0 Lollipop and iOS 8!!!

Design of iOS 8 is nothing surprising or interesting. We found that latest OS design is almost same as the previous version iO7. iOS 8 featured a flat design by ending up all the signs of skeuomorphism. Totally iOS 8 is just an improvement of iOS 7, not a revolution. Android 5.0 Lollipop shows major design change where Google started Material Design look for android. This design change is also offered to developers to use in their android apps. On the whole Android 5.0 Lollipop offered more depth to operating systems appearance using shadows and also generated very bright and colourful design just like iOS. Android L User Interference is little warmer than Apple’s UI which appears occasional eye-poppingly white. Its additional features like new animations, touch feedback gave a smooth and responsive feel to the operating system.

Performance of Android 5.0 Lollipop vs iOS 8

Just like iOS 7 the latest OS is also a 64 bit OS which runs on 64 bit hardware. Apple devices appear less powerful when compared with the Android devices. Apple’s control of OS and Hardware meant that iOS out performs powerful android devices. Android 5.0 Lollipop fully supports 64 bit processors and this also uses all the run time using Dalvik Compiler dropped in favor of ART. This gives “ahead of time” than”just in time” compilation to improve app performance.

Battery Life of Android 5.0 Lollipop vs iOS 8

Android 5.0 Lollipop is equipped with Project Volta’s battery saving technology and offers 1/3 longer battery life than Kitkat. The New run time given is demanding and offers good battery life. iOS 8 is highly efficient than its previous versions. iPhone 6 offers better battery life than iPhone 5s and its battery is also bigger.

Apple has metal API for game developers where as android 5.0 Lollipop has both open GL ES 3.1 and android extension pack for game developers. Both Apple and Android promises good comfort in gaming on mobile devices.

All the apple updates are made available for iOS users instantly. Updates for android users also changed. There is no need for android users to wait long for the updates. Now the Google Play services handle the updates for every six weeks to prevent the devices waiting for updates for long time.
