Photo Management softwares have become an integral part of photography since they not only help people organize and share photos, but also save a lot of manual labour involved in managing and browsing through our entire collection of photos. These free softwares allow us to manage & edit our photos using a variety of advanced features, ranging from archiving them to adding descriptions to carrying out one-click corrections. Here are the 5 best photo management softwares for Windows:
1. Google Picasa
The all time number one software for managing your photos & editing them efficiently. The best part about Picasa is that it’s extremely easy to use and hence great for beginners. It helps users sort their photos into albums, carry out quick editing and share them with friends and family whenever they want. The software has always been available free-of-cost and even supports Picasa Web Albums integration which gives you 1024MB or 1GB of free space to save your photos online.
2. FastStone Image Viewer
A fast and stable free image browser, converter and editor with a nice, user-friendly interface. It has a wide range of features, including image viewing, management, comparison, red-eye removal, emailing, resizing, cropping, retouching and color adjustments. A rather innovative feature is the musical slide-show which has over 150 transitional effects, as well as lossless JPEG transitions, drop shadow effects, image annotation, scanner support, histogram, side-by-side image comparison and much more!
3. Zoner Photo Studio Free
Another popular photo management software that lets you do much more than just managing your photos. Though the pro edition has some advanced features, the free version works quite well for everyday use. Not only can you correct red-eye, blurring and other defects in your photos, but also create 3D pictures, contact sheets, calendars, greeting cards and more! You can also add canvas and borders to your photos, and share them online with your friends and family.
A small, fast and simple-to-use software though it doesn’t match up to some of the other photo management softwares we have discussed so far in terms of features. However it supports a wide range of file formats and comes with multi language support that gives a slight edge. The best part about Irfanview is that it’s non-complicated and offers just enough features to qualify as a nice photo management software for Windows (and it’s free as well!).
A good overall package that supports nearly all graphic file formats (over 400) and comes with built-in features that allow users to convert graphic files into different formats. Some nice photo viewing and editing features are offered and batch conversion/renaming of files can be done easily as well. Available as a freeware and can be downloaded from this link:
