Heard of that new super cool command trending nowadays among Android users? Well, if not, let me tell you that it’s a wonderful feature that Google will soon bring to all Android devices but presently it exists only in one! Motorola’s Moto X is the only device which comes with this feature. As earlier, Motorola was a Google company so it was the first device to experience the feature.
What is ‘Ok Google’ command?
‘Ok Google‘ is a new search assistant or device assistant that Google has invented for Android devices with Android 4.3 or above. ‘Ok Google’ as mentioned above is a voice assistant which can be used for making a call without touching the device, along with typing and sending a text message, taking notes, setting up reminders, searching on internet and so on!!
This command based voice assistant was not available before for any device except Moto g, but, recently a developer had found an extraordinary method to enable this service in Android device with 4.3 or above Android OS. We personally tested this service on Moto G and the results were incredible. You can call anyone when your device is on dashboard and you just need to say ‘Ok Google’ and then say ‘Call Rohit’ and it automatically calls the person and is also useful for navigation purposes.
In this guide we will learn how we can enable it and what settings are to be made for this.
- Open your ‘Google Now’ by visiting Google app in your device or by tapping the search box of Google on your home screen.
- After that, in search box, type ‘Ok Google Everywhere’, For reference check the below image.
- Now, tap the menu button of the device to go to settings.
- Next, tap on Voice settings, as shown in the below image.
- Then, tap on ‘Ok Google’ detection option, as shown:
- Finally, check all options as shown in the image below:
- You are done!
Note: If you check these mentioned settings without following the 2nd step you will not find the options shown in 6th step. Sometimes it may be the case that you might not find any options shown in step 6 after following whole process. In that case, what you should actually do is just go to settings and then select language, make sure that you have selected ‘English US’ as this feature works only with that language. If you are still not able to find the settings of step 6, then your device doesn’t support this feature. You should wait for the Google’s update which will let you know if your device is the one to get this feature or not.
