Microsoft’s Metro Style e-mail “Outlook” is one of the best competitor to Google’s e-mail “Gmail”. It is fast, simple and beautiful interface makes it awesome. So, many of you will be thinking of switching account from Gmail to Outlook. But the main problem that occur is how to automatically import Gmail’s messages to outlook’s inbox.
You can easily import your Gmail’s e-mail to Outlook by using POP3 protocol. Once you have successfully configured POP3, it will automatically import your Gmail’s e-mails to your Outlook inbox. So, how to configure Outlook to import Gmail’s messages.
Steps to Import Gmail Messages in Outlook
Step 1: Sign-in to Gmail and go to “Mail settings”.Step 2: Once you open mail settings, click on “Forwarding and POP/IMAP”.
(This will open up your settings page for POP3 and IMAP)
Step 3: Select “Enable POP for all mail” or “Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on” in POP Download settings.
Enable POP for all mail: This will download all emails in your Gmail to Outlook.
Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on: This will download only emails from now onward to you Outlook.
Step 4: Select one of the setting for “When messages are accessed with POP”.
(Like I am going with “mark Gmail’s copy as read”) Step 5: Click on “Save Setting” button.
(This will save pop3 settings for your Gmail account)
Step 6: Sign-in to Outlook and go to settings.Step 7: Now click on “Sending/receiving email from other accounts” link.
(This will open sending and receiving settings of your outlook account. In here, you can configure your Gmail POP3 account)Step 7: Click on “Add an email account” link.
Step 8: Enter your Gmail account’s “email-id and password” and click on “Next” button.
(If you have 2-step verification turned-on your Google account, then enter an application specific password in the password field)
Step 9: Enter a name of folder for your Gmail messages and click on “Save” button.
(As soon as you click on “Save”, “Outlook” will start importing you messages from “Gmail”)
Note: You can even send message from Gmail via Outlook. All you need to do is go to Gmail’s inbox and confirm your e-mail address.
