You probably know about some softwares like TeamViewer, etc. which allows you to access your computer remotely… But most of them requires you to have another computer for the purpose. Well, now you only need your phone, internet connection and this app.
Smartphones are really getting advanced every day, plus the applications increase their utility tremendously. PocketCloud Remote app allows you to remotely control a computer with android phone or tablet. It displays your computer’s screen on mobile device, literally. You can control your PC in the exact same way, you use it. Watch this short video to see how it works.
But you might wonder, why do you need it?
Suppose, you’re somewhere else and you need an important file from your PC at the very moment… Just connect to it using your phone and you have it. If you’re lazy like me and you need to access your PC to make a few clicks, you don’t need to leave your place… Just take out your phone and you’re done. At night, you suddenly remember that you forgot something but you don’t want to lit up the room and wake other persons sleeping in the same room… Do the work silently using your phone.
The best part is that you don’t need a software or anything in your PC to use this app and it supports not only Windows and Linux platform but Mac too, isn’t that great? Whatever PC you have, it works with everything! And it’s absolutely FREE. You need to pay for the pro version, though. Don’t think that you won’t get any features in free version, there is almost everything you need. The free version is restricted to one computer only – that’s enough for personal purpose, right?
How PocketCloud Remote Works?
First things first, you need the application installed on your Android device (of course). Next, you need a computer with RDP or VNC support. RDP refers to Remote Desktop Protocol, it’s a protocol developed by Microsoft to allow users access another computer with graphical interface. In simple words, it allows you to see the desktop (or screen) of another PC remotely. VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing, is the same thing but it was originally developed at Olivetti & Oracle Research Lab (ORL) and it uses RFB protocol. Currently, VNC is a registered trademark of RealVNC Ltd.
Once you have both the required things, just setup the options in application and you’re good to go. You can do the same using two different alternatives. The easy one is Auto Discovery: Just follow the step-by-step guide of the app, it will automatically connect to the desired device. Advanced users can connect by entering the IP address or hostname directly in the app.
