If you did not buy a new phone because you are waiting for upcoming iPhone, then here’s a great, instead awesome NEWS for you all. Yes the long rumored iPhone 5 is confirmed to have a taller 3.95 inch screen. How do I know, well Apple itself told all of us! 😛 No, seriously.. remember I talked about iOS 6 beta 4 that was released yesterday? On further investigation of iOS 6 beta 4, folks at 9to5 mac found some interesting proofs that confirms iPhone 5 will sport a taller screen then it’s current generation siblings.
The image you see above is a perfect example of what we call Curiosity. It is an intelligently done tweak to Apple’s Xcode which revealed these images. They modified the iPhone simulator to work with 640×1136 display resolution, which was rumored to be next-generations iPhone display. This tweak was done parallel to both iOS 5.1 and iOS 6.0 simulators and it revealed these images. On observing the images, you can clearly identify that the current version of iOS do not support this resolution and spacing between the icons gets stretched still holding 4 rows of icons. On the other hand, iOS 6.1 intelligently adjusts to this new resolution and without distorting the beauty and simplicity of homescreen adjusts to 5 rows of icons.
“Thanks to some tweaks to the iOS Simulator application that is included in the iOS development tools, we were able to run the simulator at the rumored next-generation iPhone display resolution of 640 x 1136. We did this running both the current public release of iOS 5.1 and the upcoming iOS 6.0. The iOS 5.1 simulator displayed the home screen with a stretched set of four rows of icons. On the other hand, iOS 6 displayed five complete rows — as our sources said Apple was testing for taller iPhone displays.
This proves that the upcoming release of iOS 6, which will obviously come pre-loaded on the new iPhone, is well-aware of taller iPhone displays. It scales perfectly to the taller resolution.”
The same site was the first one to report that Apple was working on a 3.95″ taller screen for next iteration of iPhone back in May this year. They reported that resolution will be taller and the width will remain the same and this proves their point. Any ways it’s a good NEWS that Apple is finally adapting to changing demands of people and implementing a larger screen. What’s your say on this? Do let us know through comments or social media.
