Welcome again readers to our new NEWS section for all iOS jailbreak lovers. Recently there have been a lot of noise about the new exploit found by Pod2g to untether jailbreak A4 powered Apple Devices so I’ll be covering more on this today along with NEWS on new redsn0w version that was released recently.
Let’s start with our first NEWS: Pod2g the person behind untethered jailbreak for iOS5 has handed over his exploit to iPhone Dev Team. Let’s rewind back to how it all began, back in November Pod2g announced that he found a bug in iOS 5 that could be used to untether jailbreak iDevices. Donators came forward and helped him buy the devices for his testing and with a lot of follow-up post on the same finally he was able to successfully complete his test on A4 powered devices. Recently according to his latest post he announced that he has handed over the exploit to dev team which will be completing their testing soon and releasing the untether jailbreak. It’s time guys when we can begin countdown for both New Year and Untethered iOS 5 jailbreak. Pod2g also released a video demoing Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 4 and other A4 powered devices:
Quoted below is his new blog post that talks about untethered jailbreak for A4 is complete and he now wants to focus on A5 powered iPhone 4s and iPad 2!
I read the comments on the blog, and I know that a lot of people are waiting for the A5 jailbreak.
Also, I know there are tons of people out there with A4 or even earlier devices who wants the untether now and don’t care about it could be interesting to wait A5 is finished to release or even 5.1, so that we don’t waste an exploit that took me months to find and develop.
I need to focus on A5 and hope I can find a path quick, and I have the feeling that chronic-dev could help me.
So, here is what I did:
– I gave all the details to the chronic dev team so that they can finish, test, integrate and release the A4 jb ASAP.
– I’ll put all my energy from now on on the A5
Hope I don’t disappoint.
Bottom line to this NEWS: You can start partying as we’ll be soon seeing an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 🙂
Moving on to our next NEWS: redsn0w has been updated to 0.9.9b9d to fix some minor issues. This update was released in response to few iPhone 3gs users reporting problem with untethered jailbreak!
iPhone3GS owners in our comments section below noticed a problem with the untethered jailbreak available for the old-bootrom 3GS. We’ve corrected that problem in 0.9.9b9d. If you have an old-bootrom 3GS and have already used last night’s redsn0w on it, you can re-run it again without losing anything. Just use this new version, go to Extras->IPSW and manually select the 5.0.1 IPSW, then go back and Jailbreak it again (but you can uncheck Cydia because it’s already installed).
That’s all for now, will keep you updated with all upcoming NEWS from Jailbreak Community
