Motorola has been doing good in the Android smartphone market. It recently released two new successors to their smartphones, namely the Moto X and the Moto G second generation. While these two smartphones have been already launched in the market, Motorola has another couple of devices ready for the launch. The names Droid Turbo, Moto S and Nexus 6 are some you might have heard rumors about but thats not all. Though we haven’t heard of this device yet, an unknown device from Motorola has been stopped by FCC for not receiving the FCC certification thats necessary for new smartphones.
This unknown smartphone carries the build number IHDT56PK2 which is very much similar to IHDT56PK1, which is the build number for the Motorola Droid Turbo. This could simply mean that this unknown device could be another variant of the Droid Turbo. This similarity has been further enhanced by a statement in FCC’s document which says that the device with the build number IHDT56PK2 is “electrically similar” to the Motorola Droid Turbo. So this unknown device could possibly be nothing new but a Droid Turbo but we can’t say for sure.
Also, the unknown device has the same dimensions as the Motorola Droid Turbo if you believe that the Droid Turbo will be sporting a 5.2″ screen. There have been rumors that the Droid Turbo might come out with a 5.9″ display but these have been outnumbered by those claiming the Turbo carrying a smaller screen. This fact simply makes it clear that the unknown device could not be the Nexus 6 as we all have seen the number of rumors claiming the Nexus 6 to be sporting a 5.9″ display.
This leaves us with a major possibility that Motorola is just bringing out a Droid Turbo with slight modification to make it available on a different carrier than the Droid Turbo. What carrier you ask? FCC has been kind enough to reveal some specifications about the device. The device has support for LTE bands 2,4,5,7 and 17 along with the GSM bands 850/1700/1900. These bands align perfectly with those offered by AT&T smartphones, making it possible that this smartphone is nothing else but the Motorola Droid Turbo which will be offered by AT&T.
Don’t get too blown away by the possibility of this device being the Droid Turbo yet, as we have another possible suggestion. This is where the Moto s steps in as we could also see the Droid Turbo going by that name for a carrier and being sold by the name Moto S for another carrier or another region altogether. Pretty much like the LG G3 Beat, which was sold by this name in Asia and went by the name LG G3 S in other markets like US.
Thats all we can say about the unnamed Motorola device for now. We’ll find out more about it once things are clear. Till then, stay tuned for more updates.
