Moto E Vs Unite 2, A Battle of Budget Smartphones with Android 4.4.2

The best budget smartphones you can buy.

A hot battle is going on since the day Micromax launched their new budget device ‘Micromax Unite 2‘ in the market to compete with newly launched ‘Motorola Moto E‘ which is the smaller variant of ‘Moto G’.

Moto E and Unite 2 are completely different from physical aspects. On one side we are getting a premium looking Moto E and apart from that we are getting Micromax Unite 2 which seems to be of very low built quality just like other devices from Micromax.

What makes both the devices such interesting to talk about? Well, it’s their specs. Motorola was the first brand to launchAndroid 4.4.2 Kitkat‘ in a budget device of Rs. 6,999. But later on Micromax launched their very own budget device with similar specs and with same OS running ‘Android 4.4.2 Kitkat’.

Well, Motorola earlier introduced Android Kitkat in their previous launches which include ‘Moto G‘ and ‘Moto X‘. But Micromax introduced Kitkat to their customers with such a low priced device. This makes people more curious about the devices.

Moto E was launched internationally but Unite 2 is currently launched only at the Micromax’s birth place ‘India’. If you talk about the specs of the devices both are quite much impressive. There are some points where Moto E beats the Unite 2 but some positive features added to Unite 2 makes it to lad in the race.

Since, Moto E is available in market but Micromax has not made the device available to people yet. But the device is expected to hit the stores and e-commerce stores next week. Both the devices cost Rs. 6,999. The most interesting fact about the devices is that they both will make you a lot confused regarding selecting the right one for you.

Display of Moto E vs Unite 2

If we talk about the display, Moto E takes the place! How? Well, Motorola is providing a 4.3 inch IPS LCD display on Moto E with a resolution of†960X540 pixels which gives the screen a density of 256 ppi. On the other hand the display on Micromax Unite 2 is a 4.7 inch IPS display with a resolution of 800X480 pixels. This gives the screen a density of 199 ppi.The screen comes with gorilla Glass 3 protection.

So, this makes it very clear that Moto E takes over the Unite 2 in terms of display. Still there is no physical overview of the Unite 2’s display so there are still some questions which will remain unanswered till the device hits the stores.

Processor

Now, if we move towards the processor of the devices there is a quite much interesting set of processor and GPU present in both the devices as far as the price point is concerned. Moto E comes with a 1.2 GHz dual core Snapdragon 200 chipset with an†Adreno 302 GPU. The device is geared up with 1 gigs of RAM. The processor of the device is perfectly fine for a device with this price tag and it leaves all other devices with a price tag of 10K behind it.However, the device also comes with a water resistant coating inside it which makes the phone water replant to some extent.

The processor on Unite 2 is a†1.3 Ghz MediaTek MT6582 processor with Mail 400 GPU. Well, the processor for the device was unspecified at the launch but the above mentioned is the most expected one. The device runs on 1 gigs of RAM.

Until or unless there is an announcement from the company regarding the processor it will not be justified to compare both the devices in terms of processor they got inside. So, in mean time letís go and check out the next point of battle between the two.

Camera of Micromax Unite 2 & Motorola Moto E

Well, what you can expect from a device with super exciting processor with Android kitkat and 1 gigs of RAM with a price of just Rs. 6,999? Again Motorola has not paid any attention towards the camera for their device. Motorola has provided a 5 Mega Pixels primary shooter on the device without any LED flash or Auto focus.

On the other hand Micromax has provided the same 5 Mega Pixels primary shooter with LED flash and Auto focus. Company has also added 2 Mega Pixels secondary shooter in the device as well. So, i would say†definitely†Micromax takes over Motorola in terms of camera capabilities.

Design and Build Quality

Moto E and Unite 2 are completely different from physical aspects. On one side we are getting a premium looking Moto E and apart from that we are getting Micromax Unite 2 which seems to be of very low built quality just like other devices from Micromax.

If we look at Moto E’s designing the main thing that is not adopted from Moto G or Moto X is the placement of speakers. The speaker’s placement for the device is just below the screen of the device in the front. Rest of the buttons including power on/off and volume rockers are on the right side of the device which leaves the left side completely blank.

As the unite 2 has not been tested yet by us so we can’t actually predict what the feel of the device will be but if it’s from Micromax at this price point then chances are higher of being built with low quality stuff.

Storage & Battery

Well, both the devices are similar in terms of storage. Micromax and Motorola is providing 4 gigs as internal storage and Micro SD card support up to 32 gigs. This can be a point of disappointment for those who wanted to install lots of games in the device as both will be capable of playing games like Asphalt 8.

If we talk about the battery on the devices then the Moto E comes with a small 1980 mAh battery which provides it a decent backup for 1 full day. On the other hand Micromax Unite 2 comes with a 2000 mAh battery which is not tested yet but is expected to give best output†well with Android 4.4.2.

Final Verdict, which is the best pick, Moto E or Unite 2 ?

Now coming to our final verdict for both the devices. In terms of display there are no doubts that Mote e is the winner but Unite 2 is not bad either. In terms of camera Moto E stands a bit far from Unite 2 but we do expect Motorola to bring some software updates for the camera app and the main shooter on Moto E shows good results with Google’s camera app. In terms of processor Snapdragon provides extra power to Moto E but benchmark scores are still not present for Unite 2 so it will be unspecified who do well until the device is available. Both come with same storage capacities and battery backup for Moto E is superbly great. Moto E takes over Unite 2 in terms of Gorilla Glass 3 protection and Water resistant coating inside the device.

So, let’s wait for the device’s availability and we will get back to you with updated comparison.
