If you are looking to buy a high end smartphone, this is probably the best time. Its because Samsung has launched next generation of its two high end smartphones. One is Galaxy S3 and another Galaxy Note 2. Both these handsets have been very popular in last 1-2 years and sales have been great. Although pricing of Galaxy Note 2 hasn’t been announced yet, but we can easily predict that there will be just a small difference between both the smartphones. Therefore to avoid confusion which one to buy and which not, here we bring you a detailed comparison of the beasts.
Display: Both the phones have Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and Corning Gorilla Glass 2. With resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, Galaxy S3 has 4.8 inch display and 306 ppi pixel density. On the other hand, Galaxy Note 2 comes with same resolution but with a whooping 5.5 inch display and low pixel density of 267 ppi.
Winner: Galaxy S3
Processor & RAM: Running on Exynos 4412 Quad chipset, Galaxy S3 features a Quad-core 1.4 GHz processor with 1 GB of RAM. Whereas Galaxy Note 2 comes with Quad-core 1.6 GHz processor and 2 GB RAM. This makes Note 2 a clear winner.
Winner: Galaxy Note 2
Camera: With social media and apps like Instagram, camera usage has increased a lot. Samsung knows that and has powered a 8 MP rear camera and 1.9 MP front camera on both the phones. You can record full hd 1080p videos at 30 frames per second. The camera also features basic functionality like Geo-tagging, smile detection & more.
Operating System: Galaxy S3 comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich where Note 2 is coming with latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Samsung has also confirmed v4.1 for Galaxy S3 very soon and it can happen before this month as the company don’t want to compromise with the sales of its top smartphone.
Battery: If your phone is running Android you can’t afford to have a smaller battery. With 3100 mAh Galaxy Note 2 easily beats Galaxy S3 packed with 2100 mAh. Remember, the winner is not decided just by figures but by actual benchmarks because when Galaxy Note 2 comes with 3100 mAh battery it also sports a bigger display and powerful processor which drains battery faster.
Winner: Galaxy Note
Price: Galaxy S3 has a hefty tag price of 38k. On the other hand, we are still waiting for Note 2 pricing to be announced by Samsung in next month. With specifications almost same there should not be a big difference in terms of pricing for both the handsets. But you never know Samsung might aggressively price Note 2.
As you can see both phones score good in different fields, there is no clear winner. If you want a phone with high specs and average display size, go for Galaxy S3. If you love bigger screens with high specs, go for Galaxy Note. It’s that Simple! Do let us know in comments about your choice?
