What is Facebook Home? Confused? Let me break it down for you. Facebook Home is an android app which shall turn your phone into a social device which will help you be connected with your friends all day long. According to Facebook ” With Home, everything on your phone gets friendlier. From the moment you turn it on, you see a steady stream of friends’ posts and photos. Upfront notifications and quick access to your essentials mean you’ll never miss a moment. And you can keep chatting with friends, even when you’re using other apps.”
Now Facebook told everyone that they are not going to launch a Facebook Phone ever, but they did that smartly. They partnered with HTC and put their Facebook Home in it and launched the Facebook Home. It is the first device that will be shipped with Facebook Home pre-installed. Facebook Home won’t be available for all the android devices. Facebook Home is currently supported by Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X, One X+. As the time progresses, they will work it out for other devices. There are a bunch of features which the Facebook Home is offering, let me list that for you.
As soon as you wake up your phone, your screen gets filled with your Facebook News feed. You are now updated with your friends activities on Facebook without launching any app or anything. It’s just there on your phone. Swipe to see more photos or double tap to like a story.
Your home page is now filled with notifications. It may your missed call alert, new message or any new comments on Facebook. A small picture is always associated with the notification to help you know what’s what.
I loved this feature. Now you can keep on chatting with your friends even if you are using some other app. So whenever you receive a new message, a chat head appears on your screen no matter what you are doing. You can touch that and resume chatting. As cellular messaging is integrated in Facebook home, it also works for the text messages.
You can access your favorites apps at a go. Just drag your favorite app to the app launcher and access it whenever you want to. You can add more screens if you want.
Currently Facebook Home is only available on Android. iOS devices are currently not possible just because Apple won’t allow such changes into iOS. Working on Android platform was easier for Facebook Considering the fact that Android is open source.
Facebook Home is a smart move by Facebook to bring people closer to Facebook even more. They also smartly launched a smartphone with the help of HTC and named it HTC first.
