We all know about the response Xiaomi’s device have received in countries where they have been introduced including China. They sell out in a matter of seconds and talking about India, where the Redmi 1S and Mi-3 were introduced not time ago, both these devices received phenomenal responses from the Indian crowd selling out in under 5 seconds. But this post here is not about the response that these devices received, but about a new Xiaomi device that has entered the Indian market. Yes guys, the Redmi Note and its 4G supporting sibling, the Redmi Note 4G have finally arrived to the Indian sub-continent.
Xiaomi’s vice-president Hugo Barra had earlier announced that the Redmi Note would soon be made available in India but we had no clue this’d happen this soon.
The Redmi Note will be made available in two variants: the Redmi Note with 3G going for INR 8,999 while the Redmi Note 4G going for INR 9,999. Let us go through the features of both the variants once.
The Redmi Note boasts of a 5.5-inch 720p LCD display along with a 5MP shutter on the front while the back has a 13 MP camera unit. Going under the hood, you’ll find a 1.7 GHz MediaTek MT6592 chipset paired with 2GB of RAM. Other than that, you get 8 GB of onboard storage which can be further expanded through a microSD card. The device offers 2G+3G support and is powered by a 3,100 mAh powerhouse.
Talking about the Redmi Note 4G, pretty much everything is the same as the Redmi Note except for the processor and the 4G support. Instead of the MediaTek MT6592 chipset in the Redmi Note, the Redmi Note 4G uses a Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 chipset, clocked at the same 1.6 GHz. The device also offers dual band LTE support and this one has been tuned to offer support for the Indian LTE bands ( TDD-2300 MHz & FDD-1800 MHz ). This however comes at a cost as the Redmi Note 4G supports a single SIM unlike the Redmi Note which offers dual-SIM support.
Another difference between the two is that the Redmi Note runs on Android 4.3 Jellybean while the Redmi Note 4G gives you Android 4.4 Kitkat.
The registrations for Redmi Note start tomorrow on Xiaomi’s preferred online retailer in India, Flipkart which has been the only official retailer of Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S and Mi-3 earlier in India. The first flash sale begins on December 2nd. However, the Redmi Note 4G is the first Xiaomi device that will not be sold just online in India. Xiaomi has paired up with Airtel to offer the Redmi Note 4G through the largest Indian telecommunication carrier i.e: Airtel’s stores. The registrations for the Redmi Note 4G will begin later by mi-December.
