The new range of Xperia smartphones namely the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and the Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet were unveiled by Sony at the recently held IFA in Berlin. The smartphones have been made available only is selected regions across the world as of now and have received great reviews so far. But one particular region where Sony has not had not a very good record is US.
Sony has not been very keen on releasing smartphones in the US as almost all Sony smartphones take a very long time to reach the States as compared to their release dates in Europe. Sony tried to break this habit by giving the Xperia Z2 a timely release in the US and that too without making it available on any carrier and releasing only the unlocked variant of the then Sony flagship and with the recently released Xperia Z3, things look like they’re improving.
We say so because Sony has already made all the three new Xperia devices available for you to pre-registeration if you live in the US and thats not the only good news. T-Mobile has been confirmed an official carrier of the the Xperia Z3 smartphone . All the three devices have their pre-registration pages on the Sony website where they are listed as coming soon. However, there is now news about whether the devices will be made available in the unlocked variant through the maker’s website or whether they will be offering the Xperia Z3 Compact and the Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet in collaboration with some other carrier. Rumors also have it that another major US smartphone carrier, Sprint is also ready to offer a Sony flagship which we guess could be the Xperia Z3 Compact. Another possibility is that T-Mobile could offer the entire Xperia Z3 series to its customers.
Whatever the case is, only time will tell us about the smartphone’s availability as the smartphones are just up for pre-registration and it could be some time before they finally hit the market. With this move, Sony sure seems to be taking a step further to ensure its customers in the US dont have to wait for a long time to get a hand on the smartphones of their choice. This move could surely boost Sony’s sales in the US.
What do you think? Would you pick if the Sony Xperia Z3. Xperia Z3 Compact and the Xperia Z3 Compact tablet through a major US carrier if you had the chance to do so?
